Cheri Kay Roque, DMD
Pediatric Dentist in Scottsdale, AZ: Meet Dr. Cheri
I was born and raised here in Scottsdale, Arizona. I graduated from Saguaro High School. After high school, I went to American University in Washington DC where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a concentration in Spanish.
During college, I developed my interest in the biological and human sciences and decided I wanted to pursue a career in the health care field. After college, I furthered my knowledge in the healthcare sciences at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development where I received a Post-Baccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award.
While I was studying at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development at the National Institutes of Health, I decided I wanted to pursue a career in dentistry. After completing research at the National Institutes of Health, I went to Harvard School of Dental Medicine where I earned my DMD degree in dentistry. While I was in dental school, I developed my passion for children’s and adolescent dentistry.
During dental school, I participated in many community service programs dedicated to supporting children’s education and dental health, and knew pediatric dentistry was the career path for me. After earning my dental degree at Harvard, I went to the University of Connecticut where I completed a two-year residency-training program in Pediatric Dentistry.
After completing my residency in Pediatric Dentistry, my husband and I moved to Arizona to be closer to my family and to allow my husband to complete his residency in Emergency Medicine at Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS).
In 2013, I earned my board certification with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry after completing written and oral exams administered by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
I have also maintained my Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification since 2008. After my husband completed his residency at MIHS, we moved to Nashville, Tennessee for two years to pursue career opportunities and experience living in Nashville.
After being away from Arizona for a short time, we quickly realized our dream to return to Arizona to raise our family. My husband now works at Honor Health in the emergency departments of the Shea, Osborn, and Thompson Peak campuses.
We opened Ironwood Pediatric Dentistry together in 2018 and we are very excited to welcome you and your family to our pediatric dental practice. I could not be happier to be a member of our local community and I look forward to taking an active role in the valley promoting children’s dental health and wellness. My husband and I live in Scottsdale with our three daughters and two cockapoos.
